The Need is Here. The Time is Now.
The proposed Azalea City Center for the Arts building in Mobile, Alabama will serve the entire community. Currently Mobile has community theaters seating under 350 people and the Saenger and Civic Center Theaters which seat over 1,800 people each. There is no mid-size venue in Mobile for theatrical productions, vocal recitals, dance showcases, musical concerts, opera performances, author tours or other traveling entertainers. Our new facility will become an integral part of this community! By offering diverse arts education programs, providing a new venue for live performances, and establishing a scholarship program, we will strengthen the community around us.
Enriching Our Community
The new facility will offer youth in the community who do not have programs at their schools or want advanced instruction in the arts an enriching environment to learn and perform. Additionally, schools wishing to develop their students’ artistic and literary knowledge will attend performances in our facility that can accommodate large audiences. The Center will grant more children the ability to experience live productions as performers, technicians, and audience members. Although Sunny Side Theater and Dance Without Limits both serve the special needs community of Mobile, there is no performance facility properly equipped to allow these students to demonstrate what they have learned. The new facility will be fully accessible from the classrooms to the performance spaces. All of Azalea City Center for the Art’s students will be able to take the stage and enjoy the spotlight!
